Kendall and Groshens Ancestors

The Groshens Ancestors

So far we have been able to go back only as far as A. George Groshens. His son Louis was born in Bas-Rhin, Alsace Lorraine, France and we assume that A. George was born circa 1843 in the same region and was a baker near Reims. Attempts to trace further have been unsuccessful partly due to the fact that Alsace Lorraine was disputed territory between Germany and France for many generations.

Louis came over from France at age 11 with an uncle of his. They pitched hay that summer starting in Iowa and moving up into Minnesota. They ended up that first fall on the Vaubel farm. Louis lived with Henry and Tille from time to time on the farm.
